What's new in Zurich Wiedikon - Spring 2025
Spring vibes, longer days, warmer air. The perfect time to enjoy new cafes, restaurants, brewery and gelato in Wiedikon, Zurich. Discover Café Irma, OKO, Mikkeller, ALBA Triemli, La Serenata, HIKARI, Kaisin Binz

Spring vibes, longer days, warmer air, means that it's time to get out of your office early to go try new places that opened in the city! Here is a list of the ones I recently found out about (some actually opened last year, but why not sharing anyways?!) 😄
Café Irma 🍞 ☕
Freshly opened in April 2025, despite being less than one month old this cafe is getting a big resonance and you can expect it to be full over weekends!
Their main focus: fermentation. Every day delicious sourdough bread makes its way out of the ovens, perfect to pair with their home-made kimchi and other fermented products. The weekend menu is rich with delicious brunch options, but you can also opt for a week-day breakfast simply based on bread, butter and jam. Closed on Monday and Tuesday.
OKO ☕

This is another great option for weekends' brunch in a super central location.
They offer very good specialty coffee and matcha too. You will be impressed by its modern, unusual interior style. It opened in February 2025 and Zurich young people seem to love it.
Mikkeller 🍺
Beer lovers, this is for you! And I put myself in it, even though I didn't have the change to try it yet. This place offers a selection of about 15-20 different beers that change regularly, and pretty much nothing else. If you really want something under your teeth you can chose from a few snack options (plättli). You can check on their website what is the beer selection of the moment. Closed on Mondays.
ALBA Triemli 🍕
It is the second location of the very popular Alba sourdough pizza in Wiedikon. They opened in January '25 and they do delivery and workshop on pizza and sourdough. Yet another chance of getting the delicious, high quality Alba pizzas on your plate, without having to reserve in extreme advance at the Wiedikon location! I tried one of their workshops and it's simply amazing. I will write a dedicated post about that soon.
La Serenata Gelato 🍦
It takes its name from Serena, the lady from Bologna, Italy who opened this gelateria officially in summer '24, then again this spring. The gelato is tested and approved based on Italian quality standards! Not many gelato places are available around Wiedikon, and this is for sure a great go-to. Especially if you're like me and can't stand the queue in front of Gelateria di Berna at Brupbacherplatz 🫠
Only a few minutes walk from there will take you to Serenata, and your mood will immediately shift! I recommend trying the Zuppa Inglese and Raffaello coconut flavours. There is also an option for gluten-free cono, but contamination is included.
HIKARI Café, Restaurant, Bar 🍜

It opened in April 2024, but the location on a side street might be easily missed.
It's the third restaurant of Hikari, vegetarian and vegan kitchen that combines Japanese traditional dishes with an European touch. What stands out is the great attention they have for the origin of every ingredient of their ramen soups, sourced locally. It's also open in the morning as a café. I only went for ramen, but their brunch menu for the weekend has some inviting fluffy delicacies that remind me of brunch cafes seen in Japan. I really need to try it out!
Kaisin Binz 🥣
A new entry in the Binz area, which lacked easy take-away options for healthy food. Kaisin opened this location in January 2025, and many employees chose it for their lunch break. The concept is always the same: you get to compose your poke bowl choosing from a great variety of options. Also great for gluten-free meals!
This was a first list of my discoveries this season. Stay tuned for more to come!
